Make a gift to Milken

Performing Arts Mission In Action

In the early winter of 2010, choir students from the Yemin Orde Youth Village in Mt. Carmel, Israel, visited Milken and Milken's choir - Kol Echad - as part of a tour of the United States. Yemin Orde School is for disadvantaged and displaced students in Israel. Many students are orphans and many are refugees. During their visit here, they sang for us and we spent the day getting to know them a little bit. It was a short visit, but made a lasting impression.

Shortly after they returned home, their school village was virtually destroyed by a brush fire. When the students in Kol Echad heard about the fire, they decided to do something about it. Through their hard work, diligent planning, hours of rehearsing and determination, they put on a benefit concert that surpassed all expectations. After the concert in January where over 800 people attended, Kol Echad was able to send a check for $35,000 to help Yemin Orde rebuild their school. This was a proud moment for the students, teachers and the Milken community, which is dedicated to Israel.
